Most beautiful gardens from around the world

Keukenhof, Netherlands

Considered to be one of the largest flower gardens in the world — the Keukenhof or the "Garden of Europe" — is spread over an area of 79 acres (32 hectares) in the town of Lisse. Home to over seven million tulips, the ethereal flower garden will be open from March 23 to May 21 in 2017. Be sure to catch the garden's annual Flower Parade, held on April 22.

Garden of Cosmic Speculation, Scotland

Spread over a sprawling 30-acres (12-hectares) of land, the conceptual sculpture garden is designed by landscape artist and cultural theorist Charles Jencks. Located at his home in Dumfries, the private garden is made accessible to the public once every year, to raise money for a cancer care charity, Maggie’s Centres, named after Jencks’ late wife. Inspired purely by science and mathematics, Jencks used artificial symmetry and curves in his design to develop structures based on black holes and fractals

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, USA

Spread over an area of 11 acres (4.5 hectares) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the garden is considered to be one of the largest urban sculpture gardens in the country. Out of the 40 permanent art installations, the Spoonbridge and Cherry (pictured), designed by Claes Oldenburg and his wife, Coosje van Bruggen, is the centerpiece of the garden.

Rock Garden of Chandigarh, India

The one-of-its-kind rock garden located in Chandigarh was founded by artist Nek Chand in 1957. Spread over an area of 40 acres (16 hectares), the garden showcases sculptures and designs completely made from various waste items such as bottles, glasses, bangles, tiles, ceramic pots, sinks, electrical waste, broken pipes and more. Apart from ceramic sculptures, it also features a magnificent man-made interlinked waterfall

Yu Garden, China

Located beside the City God Temple in Shanghai, the Yu garden takes you back in time as you walk across zigzagged bridges over koi-filled ponds, while gazing at exquisite jade rocks and dragon sculptures. Built first in 1559 by Ming dynasty governor, Pan Yunduan to comfort his aging father, Pan En, the Chinese landscape garden spanning five acres (two hectares) of land, was repaired several times over the years

The top attraction of the garden is the beautiful art nouveau-style metallic greenhouse (pictured), which houses rare tropical plants, welcoming its guests with vistas of flowers. The garden, also known as the "Jardim Botânico Fanchette Rischbieter," houses the Botanical Museum with its natural reference collection of native flora, including specimens from the Atlantic forests of the country
